Twenty years after the fall of the Soviet Union, Moldova continues to struggle economically, with 25 per cent of the population forced to work abroad. The exodus has halted investment in local infrastructure, but now with the support of IFAD – a United Nations agency working to develop farming communities- the creation of new jobs gives hope to Moldovans returning home.
